3×3 Barbell Complex “Fun”isher

Happy Friday, everyone! It’s a rest day for me, but that doesn’t mean I can’t deliver you a challenging workout finisher to cap off what was hopefully a great week of training. My week went pretty well, and I’m happy today is a recovery day because I am sore from doing a metric butt ton (yes, that’s a real unit of measure) of clean and presses yesterday. Throw in some one arm pushups and weighted cossack squats and I am sore all over, which although it’s never my goal, it can be refreshing from time to time.

Enough about my week, on to the finisher, which is probably why you are really checking this out in the first place. As much as I love a good kettlebell complex, sometimes it’s fun to swap in another strength implement to get the job done. When it comes to the barbell most people think of the big three lifts done in isolation, but it can be used for complexes too, which is basically a chain of exercises without putting the bar down. This one in particular combines three lifts, with a 3 rep scheme. Here’s the set up:

6 rds, 30s rest between
2A) BB Front Squat x3
2B) BB Military Press x3
2C) BB Thruster x3

Simple, nasty fun. I may hit this one again this weekend. It’s just a matter of deciding whether to add it on to press day or squat day since it is a lovely combination of the two.

Here’s a video of a couple rounds:

Hit it up and let me know how it goes!
