Study Time!

It’s time to crack open a textbook (or two) and get to studying again. It’s a little hard to believe that it has been over ten years since I’ve been in school and had to study for anything.  Man, time sure does fly when you’re……..um……..coasting through life?

Yeah, I recently went through one of those psuedo-mid-life (I’m still closer to thirty years old than 40) examinations that made me realize I’m not feeling particularly fulfilled by my occupation. It’s time to change things and make a difference.

Enter the Precision Nutrition certification.  Nutrition has been an area that absolutely fascinates me.  There so many different diet methods out there, with each one claiming to best one, it’s no wonder that 99.9% of the population is confused and has no idea what eating “healthy” really means.  The precision nutrition system is a well balanced approach that can truly help people start making the simple changes toward a healthy lifestyle, and I’m eager learn how to coach this industry leading system.

Lucky for me, I got into a special 50 person beta-test group for whom the course starts next week.  So in 18 short weeks I can call myself a nutrition coach and that’s pretty exciting.

The second part of my three pronged life changing approach is studying for the ACE personal trainer certification.  One of my favorite things to do is design different workouts, but I really need to learn how to apply that design to others so I can start coaching.

Combine that cert with the nutritional coaching and I feel like I can really start making a difference in people’s lives. Although getting those certs will take time. That doesn’t mean that I can’t start helping people right away and that’s where Iron 2 Iron Fitness comes into play.  I’ll be publishing as much helpful content as I possibly can, while hopefully keeping up on the studies and staying on track for completing the certifications.

I keep telling myself that studying for two certifications at once is really like studying for more than one college class at the same time.  Heck, I had to study for 4 or 5 classes at once in college, all while trying to kill of my brain cells with copious amounts of alcohol. So this should be relatively easy in comparison, right?
