Submax Superset “Fun”isher #2

I’ve got a new workout finisher for you this week. It’s the second in my “Submax Superset” series.  In case you missed the first one you can check it out here.

This week is a similar set up using a set number of reps for one movement, supersetted with submaximal reps of another movement. I used a ladder setup for the fixed rep move so the goal of this one is to complete as many of the submax move (in this case pushups) in the five rounds.

As a reminder doing submax reps involve doing as many reps as possible, but stopping before you hit complete failure. So leave one to two reps in the tank.

Here’s the actual set up of this guy:

1A) KB Goblet Squats @70 x 10, 8, 6, 4, 2

1B) Pushups x submax

This one got interesting as the goblet squats were not much of rest as they recruit the upper body and the “rest” got shorter as the reps went down. I finished with a disappointing 64 reps of pushups so I may have to give this another go.
