Submax Superset “Fun”isher #4

Why stop now with the submax finisher theme? Here’s another one that is super challenging. It’s been awhile since I’ve tossed the sandbag around so while it kicked my butt, it was thoroughly enjoyable at the same time.

This week is a similar set up using a descending ladder for one movement, supersetted with submaximal reps of another movement and repeating for five rounds. Your aim is to rack up as many reps of the submax movement. I even set up a scoring system to track your progress.

Let’s cover the setup first.

1A) Sandbag Squat Clean x 10, 8, 6, 4, 2
1B) Ring Dips x submax

Score = Sandbag weight + #Dip reps

As a reminder doing submax reps involve doing as many reps as possible, but stopping before you hit complete failure. So leave one to two reps in the tank.

This ended up pretty tough. It might be better to use a set rest period between rounds, somewhere between 15 and 30 seconds to recover a bit. I had to take short strategic rests throughout, and my number of dips decreased quite a bit over the course of five rounds. Here’s what it looked like:

My score: 85(weight used) + 45(total reps) = 130. Give it a shot and let me know how you stack up. Post your score below!
